Accelerating Westervelt College's website

Background & Challenge: 

Founded in 1885, Westervelt College is Canada's oldest private career college, offering a range of accelerated programs up to 20 months in length. While Academica Group has guided the viewbook design for Westervelt since 2001, the website was very much outdated, and did not permit modification or updates.

Strategy: 

Academica Group developed an information architecture for the new Westervelt website, revised content, and constructed the site using our x2clicks™ content management system on the Drupal open source platform. Users at the College are able to log in and make edits to programs, details, upcoming events, and more throughout the site.

Insights: 

Career college programs appeal to students primarily because they are compressed: elective content is omitted, classroom and lab time is extended, and programs are complete in 15 months instead of 24. Westervelt College has an impressive modern campus, experienced instructors, solid curriculum and an unrivalled history. The acceleration is the primary attraction, however, and the prime distinction between Westervelt and its competitors, public community colleges.

Results: 

Westervelt College has a completely redesigned website that employs the x2clicks Content Management System interface, creating an easy-to-update site that follows a consistent design standard throughout.

To appeal to students seeking an accelerated program, and to reinforce the key properties of the brand, Academica Group developed a series of rotating "billboards" for the homepage with blurred text in motion, and made liberal use of videoclips throughout the site.
